Privacy Policy
At Ukuuku, we respect your privacy and are committed to protecting any personal data we collect. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, and share information when you use the Ukuuku iOS Application (the "App").
1. Information We Collect
To provide chord training features and an ad-supported experience, the App and its third-party SDKs may process the following categories of data:
- Device Identifiers (Tracking Data): If you grant permission via the App Tracking Transparency (ATT) prompt, we collect your device's advertising identifier (IDFA) to serve relevant, personalized third-party ads.
- Application Usage State & iCloud Sync: We store your chord practice progress, switch test scores, streaks, saved songbook details, and app preferences using on-device storage. If you enable iCloud on your device, your custom songbook pieces and newbie pass receipts are synced securely to your private iCloud container (CloudKit). We do not host this data on our own servers, and we cannot access your private iCloud storage.
- Ad and App Interaction Data: Google advertising SDKs may process product interaction, advertising data, performance data, coarse location, and other diagnostic data to serve ads, measure ad delivery, prevent abuse, and improve ad reliability.
- Crash and Diagnostic Data: Firebase and Google SDKs may process crash data, performance data, and other diagnostic data to help us understand app reliability and troubleshoot issues.
- File Metadata (Timestamps): Used locally by the app database (SwiftData) to keep track of when you practiced specific chords or saved files.
🔒 Privacy First: All of your ukulele practice history, switch test scores, and custom song data remain strictly on your local device or synced securely to your personal, private iCloud account. We do not maintain an external server database of your training sessions and cannot access your synced data.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the collected information for the following purposes:
- To maintain your local training history, streaks, and customization options.
- To serve advertisements through third-party ad networks (such as Google AdMob) to support the development of the App.
- To analyze ad delivery and verify ad actions.
- To diagnose crashes, performance problems, and SDK reliability issues.
3. Third-Party Services and Tracking
Our app integrates Google AdMob, Google User Messaging Platform, Firebase Analytics, Firebase Remote Config, and Firebase Crashlytics. These SDKs may collect or process device identifiers, product interaction, advertising data, coarse location, performance data, crash data, and other diagnostic data according to their own privacy disclosures.
Advertising SDKs may contact tracking domains including:
doubleclick.netgoogleads.g.doubleclick.netadservice.google.com
If you opt out of tracking via the iOS App Tracking Transparency (ATT) prompt, iOS does not provide your IDFA to the App for cross-app tracking. Ads may still be served using contextual, limited, or non-personalized signals.
4. Data Retention and Deletion
Because your practice progress, saved songbooks, and scores are stored locally in your device's sandbox, we do not have access to delete or modify this data. If you wish to delete all local progress data, you can do so at any time by uninstalling the App from your device. If you have synced your data to iCloud, you can manage or delete your synced app data at any time through your iOS device settings under Settings > [Your Name] > iCloud > Manage Account Storage > Ukuuku.
5. Children's Privacy
Our App is designed to help anyone learn the ukulele. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us at the address below so we can take immediate action.
